Release status: tRVCR is in development. A TestFlight build has been prepared, but no public beta invitation or App Store download is available yet. Requires iOS 26 or later.
Get started
- Allow Camera access when prompted.
- Choose 1080p or 4K, where supported by your camera.
- Select Original, Portra 400 or Tri-X 400; these are always available. Unlocking the full collection adds the other 38 looks.
- Choose Colour Only for colour grading or Full Retro for the preset’s added texture.
- Set audio with the microphone icon before recording. Drag the focus and light targets, frame with the zoom slider, and press Record.
- Press Stop and keep the app open while any processing finishes. Allow Photos access to save your clip.
Common questions
Why is my clip processing after I stop?
The app tests device capability before enabling live effects. More demanding combinations record first, then apply the selected look. This is expected, especially with Full Retro at 4K. Keep the app in the foreground until saving completes.
How can I reduce heat or improve responsiveness?
Try Colour Only or 1080p, allow the phone to cool, and leave Low Power Mode off if you need the best available live performance. tRVCR automatically adapts preview load and may choose post-processing when the phone is warm or power-limited. Sustained frame rate depends on hardware, effect and conditions.
Why is there no sound?
Before the next recording, check the microphone icon and iOS Settings → tRVCR → Microphone. The microphone control cannot change during a recording. Silent clips intentionally contain no microphone track.
Why are effects locked or my purchase missing?
Portra 400, Tri-X 400 and Original are free. Use Restore Purchases with the Apple account that bought the full collection. If a purchase is pending approval, wait for Apple to confirm it. During development, paid effects may be unavailable until the product and testing setup are ready. TestFlight purchases use Apple’s test environment and are not retail purchases.
Where is my saved recording?
Check Photos and its recent videos. If saving failed, tRVCR retains the movie locally and offers export. Keep the app installed until a retained clip is safely exported; uninstalling removes local app storage.
How do I move the focus and exposure points?
Drag the green/red focus target and yellow light target independently. Tapping the preview moves focus only. Focus blinks red while searching and turns green after it settles.
How do I change the icon?
Long-press tRVCR on the Home Screen and choose Woman Icon or Man Icon. Both use a deep-blue illustration with a white background.
What should I do if the preview stalls?
Stop recording if possible, allow any save or export to complete, then return to the app. Try Colour Only or a lower resolution and let a warm phone cool. Keep the app open during recording; going to the background ends the clip.
Beta feedback
If you have an invited TestFlight build, open TestFlight → tRVCR → Send Beta Feedback. Include your iPhone model, iOS version, effect, rendering mode, resolution and a description of the problem. Avoid sending private recordings unless you intend to share them.
